John Howell Fruit at a Slow Food Melbourne market

Our Stallholders

John Howell Fruit

John Howell is a fourth-generation fruit grower from the Yarra Valley, and a fixture at our farmers' markets since forever! His orchard, dating back to 1870, boasts delicious apples, pears, lemons, figs, quinces, plums, cherries, and persimmons.

Known for his friendly banter and never shying away from the camera, John brings plenty of personality to market day. He's also a wealth of knowledge. Ask him anything about growing fruit and chances are he'll have the answer. Generations of experience have taught him that the best produce starts with healthy soil, traditional farming practices and keeping inputs to a minimum, letting nature do the hard work.

Tree-Ripened Yarra Valley Fruit

The result is beautifully flavoured, tree-ripened fruit picked at the peak of the season. Be sure to stop by for the freshest seasonal fruit, a chat with one of the market's true characters, and a few expert growing tips to take home with you.

Find John Howell Fruit at Edgewater Farmers Market on Saturday 7 November.
