Bass Coast Farm at a Slow Food Melbourne market

Bass Coast Farm

The family behind Bass Coast Farm bought their land at Glen Forbes in 2012 and started with cattle. Their foundation stock came from the Hazeldean Angus stud on the Monaro in New South Wales, a bloodline with deep roots in the high country.

The farm sits on the Bass Coast near Woolamai, ninety minutes south of Melbourne. Healthy soil runs everything here. Well-managed pasture means the cattle and chickens graze on mineral-rich grass, so the land keeps producing nutrient-dense food with no artificial fertiliser. Balance through diversity, the way nature tends to sort it out.

Grass fed, grass finished

Bass Coast Farm raises Angus beef and Australian White lamb, grass fed and grass finished, free of chemical inputs. Alongside the meat you'll find pastured free-range eggs and cold-pressed organic extra virgin olive oil.

They sell only what they raise, straight to you. The person across the table can tell you where every cut came from and how the animal lived. Tender farming, tender fare. Back a local farm this Saturday and stock up.

Bass Coast Farm recently attended West Footscray Farmers Market.
